THE MOUNTAINTOP

By Katori Hall

IS PRESENTED THROUGH SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT WITH DRAMATISTS PLAY SERVICES.

Director: Aubyn Johnson
“The Mountaintop” is a riveting play that imagines the final moments of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life on April 3, 1968, the night before his assassination. Set in Room 306 of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee, the play takes audiences on an intimate journey into the mind and heart of one of history’s most influential figures. As Dr. King reflects on his life, his legacy, and the struggle for civil rights, he encounters a mysterious and spirited maid, Camae. Through their poignant and thought-provoking conversations, secrets are unveiled, truths are confronted, and the humanity of a hero is revealed in all its complexity. “The Mountaintop” is a powerful exploration of the man behind the icon, reminding us of the profound impact of one individual’s unwavering commitment to justice and equality.
